Services provided

Mr Stelios Myriknas is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist registered with the General Medical Council (GMC Number: 6155972). We provide a range of private medical services, including but not limited to:

  • Antenatal care and consultations
  • High-risk pregnancy management
  • Cervical cerclage procedures (transabdominal and transvaginal)
  • Delivery services (vaginal, assisted, and caesarean section)
  • Gynaecological consultations
  • Pre-pregnancy consultations
  • Postpartum and post-delivery care

All services are provided on a private basis. We welcome patients transferring from NHS care at any stage. Private care with Mr Myriknas is provided as a separate episode of care from any NHS care you receive, and the same element of care cannot be provided partly privately and partly through the NHS at the same time. You remain fully entitled to NHS services at all times, and you may transfer your care to the NHS whenever you wish; if you do, your private episode of care ends and any care already provided will be invoiced in accordance with these terms.

Professional standards

Mr Stelios Myriknas adheres to the professional standards set by:

  • The General Medical Council (GMC)
  • The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG)

Professional indemnity cover is maintained through The Medical Defence Union.

All medical advice and treatment is provided in accordance with current UK medical guidelines and evidence-based practice.

Appointments and fees

Booking Appointments

Appointments must be booked in advance via our contact form, email, or telephone. By booking an appointment, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms. All appointments are subject to availability and are not confirmed until you receive written confirmation from us. We reserve the right to decline or cancel a booking in accordance with our Termination of Care policy set out below.

Fees and Payment

Our fee schedule is available upon request and will be provided to you by email. All fees are quoted and payable in pounds sterling.

No deposit or advance payment is required for any of our services. Please note this applies to Mr Myriknas' fees only; hospital fees are billed separately and are subject to the hospital's own booking and deposit arrangements. For individual consultations, an invoice will be issued within a few days of your appointment and payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date. For care packages and delivery only bookings, the fee is invoiced after delivery, with payment due within 14 days of the invoice date. If your care with us ends before delivery for any reason, the consultations you have received will be invoiced at our standard consultation rate. Where the ending of care amounts to the cancellation of a booked package, delivery, or procedure, an administrative fee may also apply, as set out in our cancellation policy below. For cerclage and other procedures, an invoice will be issued within a few days of your procedure and payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date.

Please note that maternity services are not typically covered by private health insurance. We ask patients to settle all fees directly with us. Where applicable, we will provide itemised invoices to assist you in making a claim to your insurer. Please refer to the Private Medical Insurance section below for full details of your responsibilities regarding insurance.

We accept payment by bank transfer and major debit and credit cards. All fees are exclusive of hospital charges, laboratory tests, and other third-party services. Fees are subject to change with no less than 30 days' written notice.

Late payment and debt recovery

Payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date unless otherwise agreed in writing. Failure to pay within the agreed timeframe may result in the suspension of future non-urgent appointments, and persistent non-payment may lead to the ending of care in accordance with our Termination of Care policy below. Clinically urgent care will never be withheld while safe alternative arrangements are being made.

Outstanding balances overdue by more than 30 days may accrue interest at 4% per annum above the Bank of England base rate from the original due date until payment is received in full. Interest terms are set out in our Terms and Conditions, a link to which appears on every invoice.

Unpaid debts may be referred to a debt recovery agency. All associated recovery costs, including reasonable legal fees and court costs where applicable, will be added to the outstanding balance.

Hospital and Third-Party Charges

Please note that while Mr Myriknas charges professional fees for his services, additional costs will be incurred for hospital services and facilities, anaesthetist fees, laboratory tests and diagnostic services, medications and medical supplies, and overnight stays and room charges.

These charges are billed separately by the respective providers - The Kensington Wing or The Chelsea Wing at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, or other relevant parties - and are entirely outside the control of this practice. We accept no responsibility for third-party charges. Please contact the relevant provider directly for comprehensive cost estimates before your procedure.

Private Medical Insurance

How private medical insurance applies to our services differs between consultations and procedures, as set out below.

Consultations. Some insurers provide cover for consultations. Where we hold fee-assured recognition with your insurer, our consultation fees will fall within your insurer's fee limits and no shortfall will be charged to you; any policy excess or co-payment under the terms of your own policy remains payable by you. Where we do not hold fee-assured recognition with your insurer, any difference between our fee and the amount reimbursed is your responsibility. We will provide itemised invoices and the clinical codes your insurer requires.

Procedures, deliveries, and care packages. These services are provided on a self-pay basis only. We do not bill insurers for procedures, deliveries, or packages, and we do not accept insurer fee schedules as settlement for them. Our fees are payable by you in full in accordance with our payment terms. You are welcome to seek reimbursement from your insurer, and we will provide the invoices and codes needed for your claim, but reimbursement is a matter between you and your insurer and the full fee remains your responsibility regardless of the amount reimbursed. Please note that reimbursement for obstetric procedures is typically a small fraction of the fee charged.

Please also be aware of the following important points regarding private medical insurance:

  • Most obstetric services are not covered by private medical insurance
  • You are responsible for contacting your insurer and obtaining pre-authorisation before any treatment. Failure to obtain pre-authorisation does not reduce your liability to us in any way
  • We do not offer direct billing to insurers. All fees must be settled directly with us
  • Payment of any outstanding balance not covered by your insurer is due immediately upon receipt of our invoice, regardless of any ongoing dispute with your insurer
  • Any excess, co-payment, or non-covered services are your responsibility
  • We cannot guarantee that your insurer will cover any services or costs, and we accept no responsibility for any claim rejection or partial reimbursement
  • You are responsible for understanding the terms of your own insurance policy, including any coverage limits or exclusions

We strongly recommend contacting your insurance provider before booking to confirm whether your policy covers the treatment you require and to understand what pre-authorisation is needed.

Cancellation policy

We do not take deposits or advance payments. All fees are invoiced after the relevant appointment, procedure, or delivery. The terms below describe the charges that may apply when appointments or bookings are cancelled.

Where services are booked remotely (by telephone, email, or online enquiry), you have the right to cancel within 14 days of booking under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, unless the service has already commenced with your agreement. No administrative fee will be charged for bookings cancelled within this period before care has commenced. Where you book an appointment, procedure, or package that begins within 14 days of booking, you are requesting that we commence services within the cancellation period; if you then cancel within the 14 day period, care already provided will be chargeable in accordance with this policy. Once a service has been fully performed within the 14 day period, the statutory right to cancel that service no longer applies. The following terms apply in addition to your statutory rights.

Appointment Cancellations

As no payment is taken in advance, cancellation charges are invoiced where they apply:

  • More than 48 hours' notice: No charge
  • 24 to 48 hours' notice: 50% of the consultation fee may be charged
  • Less than 24 hours' notice, or failure to attend: The full consultation fee may be charged

These charges are applied at our discretion, and we will always take genuine emergencies and exceptional circumstances into account.

Package, Delivery, and Procedure Booking Cancellations

When you book an obstetric package, a delivery only service, or a scheduled procedure, we reserve your delivery or procedure date and plan our commitments around your care. If you cancel such a booking, the following applies:

  • Any consultations already provided will be invoiced at our standard consultation rate
  • An administrative fee of up to 5% of the booked package, delivery, or procedure fee may be charged to cover the costs of your booking and the reservation of your date
  • The administrative fee is applied at our discretion and may be reduced or waived in appropriate circumstances

Transferring Your Care

You are free to transfer your care to another provider, including to NHS care, at any time. Private care with Mr Myriknas and any subsequent care elsewhere are separate episodes of care, and nothing in these terms restricts your access to NHS services. If you transfer your care after booking a package or delivery service, the booking cancellation terms above apply: consultations already provided will be invoiced at our standard consultation rate, and the administrative fee may be charged.

Where Care Ends Through No Choice of Yours

Pregnancy does not always follow the expected course. Where your care with us ends for reasons beyond your control, no administrative fee will be charged and only the care actually provided will be invoiced:

  • Emergency NHS delivery: If your baby is delivered by the NHS on-call team in circumstances beyond your control, no delivery fee applies. Consultations already provided will be invoiced at our standard consultation rate
  • Clinical transfer: If your care must transfer to another specialist team for clinical reasons, consultations already provided will be invoiced at our standard consultation rate
  • Preterm delivery: If Mr Myriknas performs your delivery, the package fee applies as agreed. If your delivery is performed by another team, only consultations already provided will be invoiced

In the sad event of pregnancy loss, we will always handle billing with compassion and discretion. Please contact us and we will agree an appropriate approach with you.

Practice Cancellations

If we need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we will provide a minimum of 48 hours' notice except in cases of medical emergency or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. You will be offered an alternative appointment at your earliest convenience, and no charge will apply for the cancelled appointment.

Invoicing of Cancellation Charges

Any charges arising under this policy will be invoiced with payment due within 14 days of the invoice date. Our standard payment terms, including those relating to late payment, interest, and the recovery of unpaid balances, apply to these invoices in the same way as to all other fees.

Force majeure

We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Acts of God, floods, droughts, earthquakes, or other natural disasters
  • Epidemic or pandemic
  • Terrorist attacks, civil war, civil commotion, or riots
  • Nuclear, chemical, or biological contamination
  • Strikes, lock-outs, or other industrial action
  • Interruption or failure of utility services or telecommunications networks
  • Government restrictions or emergency regulations

In such circumstances, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you and minimise disruption. As no fees are paid in advance, you will only ever be invoiced for services already provided.

Patient responsibilities

As a patient, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete medical history information
  • Attend appointments punctually
  • Follow medical advice and treatment plans as discussed
  • Inform us of any changes to your health status or circumstances
  • Settle all fees in accordance with our payment terms
  • Treat our staff and facilities with respect

Termination of care

We reserve the right to withdraw from providing your care in the following circumstances:

  • Abusive, threatening, or violent behaviour towards staff
  • Non-payment of fees
  • Repeated failure to attend appointments without notice
  • Failure to follow medical advice that compromises your safety or treatment outcomes
  • Breakdown of the doctor-patient relationship or loss of trust

Where possible, we will provide reasonable notice and assist with transferring your care to another provider. In emergency situations affecting your immediate health, we will ensure continuity of care until safe arrangements can be made.

Medical records

  • All medical records are maintained in accordance with GMC guidance and UK data protection laws
  • You have the right to access your medical records by submitting a Subject Access Request (SAR) in writing. We will respond within one month of receipt as required under UK GDPR
  • Records are retained for the periods specified in our Privacy Policy
  • Medical records may be shared with other healthcare providers involved in your care, with your consent

Limitation of liability

While we strive to provide the highest standard of care:

  • Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer or your rights under data protection law
  • For all other claims, our liability is limited to the total fees paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (including loss of earnings, distress, or disappointment)
  • We maintain professional indemnity insurance as required by the GMC

Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under English law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Our services will be provided:
